Trailer Review: Batman: The Killing Joke

By: Sean Gardner

My favorite comic book writer, Alan Moore has never liked the idea of his books being adapted into films. He even refused to have his name attached to Zack Snyder’s interpretation of his most renowned book, Watchmen. Moore’s latest masterpiece to be turned into a film is DC’s animated Batman: The Killing Joke. Although the film has no release date yet, the first trailer debuted recently and it is fantastic.

I love the book and own a hardback copy, and I had always wondered what it would be like to see a film. With the way things are going right now at Warner Bros. with their live action films, I am quite pleased that The Killing Joke is animated. They got the perfect voice talent in Kevin Conroy for Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker. The two have worked together in the past on various projects beginning with the 90’s animated series. They have created the best Batman/Joker relationship to ever be put to screen. Mark Hamill’s Joker laugh is legendary. This trailer does not show me anything that would make me think differently. I cannot wait for this film.

Watch the full trailer here and let me know what your think! Thanks for reading!
